WMDC - Synchronization cannot be started

PDA: HP - iPAQ hx2795
Desktop: AMD 64-bit processor; 4 GB RAM
Windows Vista Ultimate - 64-bit version - Clean install
Office 2007 - Ultimate - Clean install
I've installed the latest version of WMDC - 64-bit version.
The only firewall I use is the built-in firewall. Naturally, since this is
Vista, Windows Defender is installed. I am NOT using OneCare.
I have turned off the firewall, Defender and anything else I can think of.
When I hook-up the hx2795 in the cradle, WMDC recognizes it, allows me to set
up a partnership, allows me to adjust the settings. If I look in My
Computer, the PDA is there and I can access it and read the files off of it.
However, whenever I try to sync my devices, I always get this error message:
"Synchronization cannot be started because you are not able to log on to the
network and access information. Restatt your desktop computer and synchronize
again. If the problem persists, contact your network administrator."
Naturally, rebooting doesn't do a thing. I've uninstalled and reinstalled ad
nausem and I've renamed the device - no difference.
Any suggestions or ideas would be greatly appreciated. What's the sense of
having the PDA if I can't sync it?

I have the exact same issue, done everything you have after
researching online, no change. This is clearly a Microsoft issue
between Vista with WMDC and PocketPC devices.

After almost a month, I'm at least glad to know I'm not alone. I agree with
you - hopefully someone will have some ideas to help us both!

Might as well climb in the life raft with you. I too am having the same
issue.
"Synchronization cannot be started because you are not able to log on to the
network and access information. Restart your desktop computer and synchronize
again. If the problem persists, contact your network administrator."

I do have a second Activesync partnership with XP w/Office 2003 which I can
sync with, not with WMDC. I have read that only one partnership be used in
other postings.

I have Windows Vista Business (Clean Installation not upgraded) and Office
2007, which I imported an exported PST from Outlook 2003.

As a side note I was unable to establish a connection to WMDC with Bluetooth
using the updated Bluetooth driver supplied by IOGear. I did download and
install the driver supplied by Broadcom however and I can now connect at
least. I can transfer files and install apps but NOT Sync with Outlook 2007.

Just an update - Nothing has changed - even with the installation of a new
version of WMDC. I'm still at a loss and have pretty much given up on the
idea of syncing my iPAQ to Windows Vista.
