WLAN icon wrong: Red x even if connected

Hi folks,

lately my WLAN icon tells me that I am not connected, even though I am.
That doesn`t change even if I disconnect and reconnect.

It`s not a very bad thing, but still disturbing a little.
Any suggestions/advice?

Put a little tiny piece of black electrical tape over that part
of the screen. Then you won't see that disturbing icon.

Hi,
Try right clicking on the task bar and select properties. Then select
notification area and uncheck network. Then exit and reboot. Then repeat the
process and recheck network.

Sorry, actually I should have said that this only happens sometimes, and
everything is fine after restarting.

You are not alone: the same thing happens occasionally to my VISTA Ultimate
(before and after SP1 applied). I quite often switch the connection between
wireless (to the Internet) and office network(LAN with cable), due to some
internet access restrictions from our domain network. When I switch ti
wireless, I disable the LAN network card. When I need back to LAN, enable
the network card. Sometimes the RED "x" stays even the computer is connected
to either the Internet or the LAN. A log-off and log-on corrects it (but
this would not be considered as a solution, why one has to log off/on?).
