wjview error

Hilary

When I startup my computer I receive a wjview
error: "could not execute main. The system cannot find
the file specified." I scanned through all tabs in
msconfig, and found no "wjview" entries.
It looks like the system is looking for some file, but I
don't know which one or where it is.

Also, I recently installed a new Iomega CD RW drive and
accompanying software (several days after I began
receiving the error msg). It seemed to install
successfully, but when I try to open it, it gives me the
microsoft error, "encountered a problem and needs to
close", and crashes before opening.

Is this linked to the wjview error? How can I fix it?

To remove this do the following

(First Step)
*Goto Start>>Run>>Type "msconfig" - Select the Startup tab.
*Find "wjview" in the list

If you find any "wjview" entries, try disabling the Wjview startup component
and locate any associated folders identified in Msconfig that you might need
to delete to determine whether that solves the problem.

(If That Doesn't Work)
To delete the Wjview entries rather than disabling them (and to check under
non-XP OSs), perform the following steps:

*Goto Start>>Run>>Type "regedit"
*Goto }HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run}
and {HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run
registry subkeys}

Remove the invalid Wjview entries.

Hi!

Start > Run > Type "msconfig" > Startup tab.
*Find "wjview" in the list

If you get "wjview" entries, disable the Wjview startup component
and locate any associated folders identified in Msconfig that you might
need to delete to determine whether that solves the problem.

If the above fails:-
To delete the Wjview entries rather than disabling them (and to check
under non-XP OSs), perform the following steps:

Start > Run > Regedit > ok
Navigate to
{HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run}
and {HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run
registry subkeys} > Remove the invalid Wjview entries

The startup is trying to run a Java program that has been deleted -
WJView is the launcher for the Java engine. There seems to be some
trojan around of this sort, and the AV programs remove the Java file
without removing the entry to run the WJView and launch it: hence the
error message. Start - Run - MSConfig and in the Startup page look for
a line for WJView as command and uncheck it
