Wirless Network IEEE 802.1X Authentication

Hello...

I am trying to set up my computer (Sony Vaio PCG-
R600HMPD) with a wireless network (using a LAN-Express
IEEE 802.11 PCI Adapter card). I need to enable the
checkbox for 'network access control using IEEE 802.1X'
under the 'Authentication' tab for Wireless Network
Properties, but it is greyed out and therefore I am
unable to select it!

Does anyone know why???

change the data encryption from disabled to WEP in the association tab first
