My connection keeps dropping because windows is finding
about 5 wireless networks in my neighborhood. Is there
any way to make windows only connect to mine?

Hi, john -

If you disable Wireless Zero Configuration you'll have to
configure your wireless connections manually - my work
network requires that the service be disabled on Windows
XP machines, but if you configure the connection manually
you'll be able to connect.

In Control Panel --> Network Connections if you right-
click your wireless connection you'll see how to
configure the connections manually. You'll also see a
place to add a list of preferred networks - and maybe
that's all you'll need to do.

Hope this helps -

With the Wireless Zero Configuration service enabled:

1. Right click your wireless network connection.
2. Click "View Available Wireless Networks".
3. Click Advanced.
4. Remove all but your network from the list of preferred networks.
5. Click the Advanced button at the bottom of the window.
6. Un-check "Automatically connect to non-preferred networks".
