Wireless Zero Configuration

Have set up a Netgear Wireless BB connection in an office and during an
attempt to log back into the router for wep enabling purposes my own linksys
wifi card ceases to function. I cannot see any available wifi nets as windows
cannot configure my wifi card. I have been prompted to check the " Use
Windows to configure my wireless network settings " check box. I do not have
one. I am using XP home with SP2. and have tried to uninstall the wireless
card and reinstalled. No good. The check box for the " Use Windows to
configure my wireless network settings " just does not exist...? can anyone
help please?..

Any help is appreciated well in advance!!

Thanks

Jaf

P.S. Got help from Brian, (Thanks B), and queried through the cmd prompt
whether WZC was active. I was returned the error 1060 and the message that
the specified service was not installed. Since I have re-installed the device
already and that has not solved the problem I am wondering where I might get
the softare to perform this function.

I have been on to Microsoft through their product support line and they are
willing to throw their opinion in at a cost of €75 + VAT.

Is this the wall? or can I get over, under or around it?

Got it Sorted..

Here's how!

Start the Control Panel. Start the Administrative Tools Option. Start the
Services Option.

Scroll down to and double click the Wireless Zero Configuration entry in the
list.

In the window that pops up, ensure that the Startup Type option is selected
as Automatic and apply.

Then on the Service Status tabs click the Start Option.

Ok the window and the NIC fired into action for me...

Microsoft were no help. Acer were no help. Tips from users like you all here
did the trick... Thank you all... I'm free!!!
