Wireless with WPA

Should home users be protected with WPA or just WEP?
Since most home users don't take the extra measures for
securing a wireless network I didn't see a reason to do
this.

If your hardware and drivers support WPA, then I'd use it.
Why not?

And if it doesn't, then well, your choice is made for you.

As long as you don't experience any performance problems, go with WPA.

Do the computers need to download Funk software or
whatever it is called?

I doubt it.

Funk provide 'suplicant' software for doing 802.1x authenticating against a
RADIUS server etc, for those OSes which don't handle this themselves.

That's not required on most home LANs, where there's no RADIUS server or
802.1x authentication.

And on those where you are using 802.1x authentication, XP handles this.
( I use 802.1x authentication against a IAS RADIUS server, using just XP. )

What OS / Wireless card / Access point are you using?

Using Windows XP and Windows 98. These machines are
connected by a wireless access point router/switch combo
by Linksys.
