I have a Linksys wireless G router with a desktop wired into it and another connected via a Linksys wireless G adaptor. It was all OK until I retired one of my PCs. I can access the internet from each but CANNOT network the files or printers. The error message is I do not have permission, contact the network administrator. The workgroup has the same name however I cannot see the computers on the network. I am running windows XP on both, I have run the network set up more time than I care to mention. I have un-installed the firewalls (Norton). I CAN ping the Default Gateway from both pcs.

I am about ready to send the system back to Kansas!

Help

Thanks in advance

.. check for firewall issues: XP's native ICF, "hidden" firewalls in
antivirus programs (PC-Illan is famous for this), and configuration of
any third-party firewall program;

.. check the event logs to see if there are Master Browser election
wars

.. If XP Home, or XP Pro with Simple File Sharing enabled, be certain
your Guest account is enabled on both machines

.. If XP Pro, and Simple file sharing is disabled, synchronize the
passwords and usersnames on both machines. Computer A should have as
usernames and passwords the users of Computer B. Computer B should
have as usernames and passwords the users of Computer A.

.. Do not use blank or empty passwords

.. Be sure that both machines share something: driver, folder,
printer, but something

I don't have any firewalls except for the Linskys Route and I was able to see the PCs before I got my new one. I do not know how to check XPs native ICF and do not have PC-Illian.

I checked the event log and did not see any Master Browser entries

I turned on the guest accoun

File sharing is enable

Both machines have the same users and passwords

Still no luck

Thank
