wireless trouble (PLEASE HELP)

Suzana

I used to have a cable peer2peer between my desktop (98se)
and my laptop (xp Home) , I went and bought a DSL
connection, wireless router, and a wireless pcmcia. I went
with (straight)wire from my desktop to the router,
wireless from laptop to router, and x-over between modem
and router. My desktop works fine but my laptop keeps
giving me a dial up connection window and on the taskbar a
network cable unplugged message. the pcmcia card is
installed and configured and works sometimes. I think that
I have to remove something from my old network to fix this
but what??
thanks Hun:

On some laptops, mine included, there is a little switch to turn on the
wireless network connection, which is a good idea, to save battery power and
to prevent unintentional network access. Perhaps yours is turned off. My
laptop is a Toshiba Portege; the switch in on the left side.
