Wireless routers recommendation/"chat"

WAW

Several years ago I installed a wireless network for a client. While it
works okay most of the time (and like a banshee if we turn off WEP) it has
been, at best, fair.

They have decided they would like to try a new wireless/DSL/print server
router. We currently have a Linksys. I have looked for but not found a
source of unbiased opinions on the "best". Can anyone point me to sources
of experience with these?

Many thanks,
Al

Well Al, I don't know how unbiased this is but I have used the DLink DI-624
at several of my clients and at my in-laws house and haven't had any
problems yet. I used a Linksys Wireless router for testing at one of the
locations and it had horrible performance but when the DLink was in place,
it ran like a charm.

Good luck in your search.

Jay,
Thanks, I have used D-Link for wired and wireless with good luck. Have you
used WEP 128 with D-Link and how a) easy to set up was it? b) how did it
affect performance?
Thanks again,
Al

Al,

Of the 3 that I have installed I setup WEP 128 on 2 of them. It was very
easy to configure and had very minimal impact on the performance.
