Wireless router question

Hi everyone,

I know this isn't exactly a WinXP problem, but I've got a
networking project coming up in a bit and I've got a few
questions.

Here's my setup. There will be 3 desktop computers and 1
Centrino laptop computer. The desktops will all be
running XP Pro and the laptop XP Home. One of the desktop
computers will be upstairs in the house, and the rest of
the computers will be downstairs.

I would like to network the computers so that they can
share an internet connection and share files between
them. However, I don't really feel like drilling holes
through the walls and so forth since the downstairs has
been just newly renovated.

I am hoping to set up a wireless network with all the
necessary security precautions (WEP, 128-bit encryption,
etc etc) by using a single wireless router and installing
wireless PCI cards into the two desktop computers
downstairs and hardwiring the upstairs computer.

Here's my question, maybe a simple one. I have seen
wireless routers out there with 4 ethernet (LAN) ports
and 1 wireless (WAN) port. Will I be able to connect the
2 wireless desktops and the laptop to this one wireless
port? or will I need to have a separate wireless port for
each wireless connection that I want?

Thanks in advance.

Hi, me again.

Sorry, I think I figured something out... the WAN port
isn't the wireless port, but the "upload" port, i.e. the
port from the internet connection.

Same question still though. Is there a limit to how many
wireless connections I can have?

Thanks again,

Nick

i think your limit is the number of computers that your router can handle (ie. 256) wireless and wired combined.
