Wireless printing to HP Photosmart 8250

David Gartrell

Hi everyone,

I'm considering buying an HP Photosmart 8250 but will need to print to it
wirelessly through a wireless print server on my wi-fi network as we have 3
PCs, all of which would need access to the printer. I was wondering - does
anyone here know whether all the functionality of the drivers (e.g.
remaining ink monitoring etc) would still be available if it was operated
in such a way. Also could anyone recommend a wireless print server that
would be up to the job?

I'd be very grateful for any advice anyone could give me.

many thanks

David.

Very slow for hi-res printing.

David, I have a D-Link DP-300U print server on my network. It isn't a
wireless box, but because it is hooked up via fast ethernet it is
accessable from my wireless machines as well as the wired machines on my
network. It comes with two parallel ports and one USB port. Currently
I am using all of the ports and it works flawlessly. I've been using it
for well over a year with no problems. All of the machines on my
network can get to all of the printers. I leave one inkjet printer and
one laser printer turned on all the time so they are available to all.
(the printers are in a out building so it's a pain to run out and turn
them on).

I can't address the ink monitoring issue. I usually don't use those
programs so I haven't tested the function.

I have used the server with my Canon 860i, HP 970, Hp 930, IBM 4019
(laser) and Lexmark 4039 (laser). All of these printer work very well.

The server runs about $60.00 and I am well pleased with it. I'm using
it with Windows XP and did use it briefly with Windows 98.
