Running MS XP Pro SP2. Set up wireless connection to router and all worked
fine for couple of months. Now wireless still comunicates okay with router,
but it is 'not connected ot network', so MS doesn't use it. I think it got
lost on some non-MS software install or update. MS Network Connections only
shows wired connection (which I am using now). Tried running wizard to
re-establish wireless connection - no help there. Tried shutdown remove
wireless board reboot shutdown install board etc hoping I'd get fresh start
on install - no help there. How do I get MS OS to recognize my wireless
again?

Service Pack 2 automatically enables the Windows Firewall. Make sure
you've allowed File & Printer Sharing in the Exceptions tab (Windows
Firewall applet in Control Panel). If you are using a third-party
firewall, disable the Windows Firewall.

A while ago, I ran into a similar problem with a Windows 98 PC.
The young lady whose machine it was installed a bunch of spyware
programs. When they were removed her connection to the internet
went with it. Her wireless connection still worked for the LAN.
It turned out that her Winsock files somehow got messed up. This
might be what you're experiencing. You might want to take a look
here:
