Wireless Network Question Please

Win XP Pro SP2

I have a wireless home network between my desktop & laptop computers. All
went normally for a while but now when I go to My Network Places on the
laptop is just shows the laptop on the list and not the desktop. The
desktop shows both as it should. The network is still in place okay. When
I open a program that resides on the laptop and choose a file from it's
recent file list that resides on the desktop it opens fine. If I choose the
File/Open command though the desktop is unlisted. I am not very experienced
with networks, a simple reply please.

reset your router ?
 
How? Turn it on & off? If that was the problem would other programs pull
up their data files from the desktop?

Also, if the problem was in the router wouldn't that affect web access from
the laptop? That is fine.
