I have recently upgraded my dell pc and laptop to service
pack 2. I have a linksys wireless router that I have been
using for a while. My desktop is physically connected,
and it connects to the network and internet fine, however
I have lost the internet connection from my wireless
laptop. I can connect to the wireless network, however I
can not get the internet to work. I have used DHCP, and
then tried to give it a static IP, niether worked. I dont
know if there is some new firewall setting in sp2 or
what, but any help would be appreciated. I have file
sharing checked on both computers in the firewall
exceptions settings. Thanks.

Reinstall the wireless network card drivers

I am not sure what does this mean. I'll just tell my experience recently
after upgrading the operation system and you can see if it applies to you.
After upgrading the o/s, reinstall the driver of the USB wireless adapter
(otherwise it won't recognize the USB device, and it if you plug it to
another USB port, it'll deem it as a new found device, too) the network
connection shows the single is fine and the connection is established. I can
see the packages are sent but no packages are received in my PC. My wireless
router has an "Authenticate Key" (WE**, cann't remember the abrevation). At
first, I did not match the "Key" in the adapter's setting although it can
still give you an "excellent single" information. Eventually, what I did is
to reactive the router by physically connecting it to the computer and did
the admin. settings including the "Key". Then in the adapter settings try to
match the "Key". Then turn off the computer. upplug the wire. then restart.
the network is work fine now.

So, from this experience, I think is the "key" that was not matched that wat
causing the problem. If I remembered the "key" right at first place, then I
suppose I should not need to reactivate the wireless router which needs a
physicall connection to the computer.... Am I right?

Also, when I installed the driver for the adapt, it does not pass the XP
digital logo test. and caused several times of blue screens if I insisted to
install it. Then after I installed the soundcard drive, the blue screen
problem was solved. ..... I am also puzzled on this.

Ok, maybe your problem was not similar with mine, but hopefully it's usefull
to you.
