WIRELESS LAN ON 2000 NOT SCANNING FOR NETWORKS???

I have this compaq preserio 2200 laptop that came with XP. It has an
Broadcom wireless lan card. Installed 2000 server and had to find
drivers for the laptop and card. The card shows up in my network
connections with a red X. When I right click properties I don't see a
tab for list available networks or connections. The card is configure
to aquire IP and DNS. When I look at the device under control
panel>system>hw>devices it looks healthy...

I know there are wireless networks where I am situated. What on earth
do now need to do to see and try to connect to those networks?

Many thanks!

I found this... It's Broadcom, but I could not find anything useful on
their site.

Windows 2000 SP4 includes support for PEAP and for the Smart Card or
other Certificate Properties dialog box as previously described.
However, because Windows 2000 SP4 does not include Wireless Auto
Configuration, all configuration of wireless networks must be done
using configuration tools provided by the wireless network adapter
vendor.

one other piece of info. when I disable and re-enable the connection I
get a message that says Network cable unplugged.

Might there be a way to activate this connection? It's a Compaq
presario 2200 laptop and the wireless lan card is a Broadcom.

thanks.
