it needs software. Check the manufacturer's documentation; this isn't going
to be an XP (or Sony) issue.

1) Buy wireless keyboard.
2) Open the box. Read the install guide
3) Most of the time, install guide would state: Install software from
included CD first, before connecting keyboard "receiver" onto the PC.
4) Charge (if required) and install batteries onto the keyboard
5) Shutdown / Reboot the PC
6) Connect the wireless keyboard "receiver" onto PC.

8) Buy extra batteries. Wireless device (keybaords and mice) tend to
consume battery power very fast.
