Wireless internet - can't download anything

Hello,

I recently purchased a new notebook laptop with Windows Vista on it and also
got wireless internet, but I can't download anything. For example, I can't
download images I've recieved through e-mail. The save as box appears but
when the download is complete, the box disappears and nothing is downloaded
onto the laptop. This happens everytime I try downloading something from the
internet.

I can't find a solution, hope you can help.

dips,
Go to the Preferences/Options section of the program you use to download
email.

Find the option related to saving or not saving images and check to agree
with your preferences.

Many email programs have this option set to not save images since viruses,
malware, etc can hide them self in the image.

You might consider setting your options to save the images but then not
viewing/displaying the message until the image has been checked for malware.

Thanks Karl, but that was just an example; its not just the e-mail I'm having
trouble with. Anything I try to download from the internet does not get saved
onto my laptop. :(

KDE

where are you saving it ? when you select "Save target as..." you get a
box asking where you want to save the file. Where are you saving it to ?
Try saving to the desktop and see if it's there when it's done. as the file
is downloading the box that shows the progress will also have a checkbox
that says "close this dialog when download is complete" make sure that is
NOT checked. that way, when your download finishes you will be presented
with some options
