Sam

I have three computers on the network. Windows XP Pro and
two Windows XP Home machines are joined by a workgroup
environment. They are connected by a router sharing a
cable connection.

I would like some way to view the wireless connections
log. Is this possible?

Sam,

I would wish that your router has a wireless connection log. Every router
should. Unfortunately that's not the case. :-(

What make and model is yours?

Paranoia comes from experience - and is not necessarily a bad thing.

The make and model of the router I have is a Linksys
BEFW11S4.v2. However, I'm talking about logging or
something that can be enabled in XP.

Sam,

The XP SP2 Windows Firewall can generate a log of successful connections. But
it's not terribly easy to read.

Since you have a BEF series Linksys router, though, you can use WallWatcher
(currently not being charged for), which is an excellent product. WW will take
the log from your router, analyse and format it, and display it on your desktop.

Or try a packet monitor, like Port Explorer (free) from
<http://www.diamondcs.com.au/portexplorer/index.php?page=home> that will show
you what network connections your computer is actually opening, and what
processes are opening them.

Chuck, this one is worth a look-see:

I've been using his RC version. Looks like he's released his final this
weekend.
