I recently connected my daughter's notebook to the
internet via wireless technology. How do I transfer information
from my desktop PC to her notebook? i.e. her ipod files?

Hopefully this makes sense: From your desktop, share her files on "My Network
Places" (You might have to setup a Home or Small Office Network" on both
computers). From her notebook, go to "My Network Places" and open the folder
that you are sharing, copy everything to her local hard drive.

You will want to set up a home network and share the desired resources.

Assuming that your desktop connects to the same wireless access point
as her laptop:

1: On your desktop, right click "My Computer" go to the Computer Name
tab, and look at the name of the workgroup assigned to the computer.

2: Share the resources: For instance, if you want to share the "My
Music" folder on the desktop PC, go the the parent folder for My Music.
Once there, right click on the My Music Folder, go to Properties,
Sharing tab, and under Network Sharing and Security, check the "Share
this folder on the network" box and assign whatever share name you
want. Repeat for each resource you want to share.

3: On your daughters laptop: Go to Start, Control Panel, Network and
Internet Connections, Set up or change your home or small offive
network... Go through the network setup wizard paying special attention
to enter the same workgroup name as your desktop. Finish the wizard,
and now you should be able to connect through her "my network places"
and copy over or move the desired files.

Hope that helps,

Kehry
