Wireless disconnects after a couple minutes

R

Richard

I have an IBM Thinkpad t40 with a built-in Intel PRO
wireless card working with a Linksys 54G wireless router.
I have two problems that may be related:

a. upon bootup, the wireless connection to my router will
not connect. However, if I first connect in an unencrytped
mode to another wireless network, then I can disconnect
and immediately connect to my own ecrypted wireless
router. My wireless card is .b and I have configured the
router to go at a max of 11MPS as part of following the
Linksys troubleshooting steps.

b. the wireless connection stays active for probably 5-10
minutes, and then drops off. Even though I have it
configured to automatically connect, it does not do so and
I have to explicityly connect again.

Any help would be appreciated.

I had the same problem after I installed a microsoft fix.
I unchecked the enable 802.1x autentication for this
network and that seemed to take care of the problem.
