Wireless connection not established at boot time - please help

I have loaded Windows XP on a pc in my house. I installed a D-Link DWL-G520
wireless PCI adapter in the pc to connect to my router.

*Hmmm...just thought of something. I just loaded Windows XP but have not
yet applied either SP1 or SP2 so I wonder if this is affecting it?

The PCI adapter and software seems to have installed correctly however I can
not get the wireless internet connection to start when I boot the machine.
I need to disable and then enable the connection in Control Panel and then
it 'finds' the wireless network and all is ok after that...until I shut
down.

When I right click on the wireless connection in CP I 'should' be getting a
tab for wireless connections but I don't (until I disable/enable it).
BTW...I have the box checked for 'allow Windows to manage the connection'.

I need some help please on determining why this is happening.

Thanks for your help.

Since you really need to get Service Pack 2 installed, do that first.
Then see if you still have problems. Make sure you do the proper
preparation before installing SP2:

Are You Ready for WinXP SP2?

Visiting a Service Center to Get SP2

There is really very little point in expending time and energy on a
problem that may not exist after you apply SP2.
