Wireless connection issues

Hello. And thank you, in advance, for your help.

I am having troubles connecting a new laptop to my home network. The laptop
is an Acer Aspire 5520 with Vista Home Premium. The network router is a
D-Link DI-624 with the latest firmware. Security is set to WPA2-EAS-PSK.
Issues include:

1) Computer will not connect to my network
2) After failing to connect to my network, computer will automatically
connect to neighbor's network, even though I changed the settings to connect
manually.
3) Occasionally computer will connect to my network with "limited
connectivity"

Rebooting the router will normally fix the connection problems, but I
shouldn't have to reboot the router every time I boot up the laptop. When
the laptop does connect to my network, another issue arises:

4) When computer connects to my network, Windows firewall will turn off.

I've only been using Vista for one week, so I welcome any suggestions.

I suggest that you get everything working without using any security first.
Then I suggest that the only change you make on the router is to change the
name of the network and then after your wireless computers/devices are
connected disable the SID broadcast of the network name so your Neighbors
will not see it. Once that is all working then consider adding additional
security.

It does work with no security. With the WPA2 security turned on, the laptop
will sometimes connect after I reboot the router.

My XP laptops work just fine with my network. The return policy for this
new Vista laptop will expire in a few days. If I don't solve this network
problem soon, I will return it and buy one with XP installed (or a mac).

disabling SSID broadcast is NOT considered a security measure and
could lead to issues like you see. change the name of the SSID to
something unique and do not use the name it came with.

SSID is NOT disabled, and I have changed the SSID to a unique name. But
thank you for the suggestion.

The ipconfig/all is below. I am able to manually connect, if I reboot the
router every day.

That still didn't fix it. I decided to return the notebook today, as this is
the last day that I could get a full refund. It will be replaced with an XP
notebook. I know I can get XP to work with my router.

Thanks for you help.

the only other thing I can say is that some new drivers showed up at
ftp://ftp.support.acer-euro.com/notebook/aspire_5520/vista/Drivers/

if you still have it and what to make one last attempt...

sorry you've had such a hard time.
