wireless connection going away

I have a linksys wireless g broadband router and two
computers, one with a linksys wireless g pci card, and
the other with the microsoft wireless b usb adapter. I
had everything set up and running for a while, and then
the computer with the linksys was losing the wireless
connection. I reset the router back to the default. I
got on for a while, just enough to change the key and
some settings, and then I lost it again. It's popping up
saying that wireless networks are availiable, but when i
open it up and put in the key, it doesn't connect. The
computer with the microsoft adapter is working fine, good
reception(it's farther away from the router than the
other computer) Why am I not able to connect and hold a
connection?
