Hello,

Barb gave me few suggestions but neither suggestions
worked. To revisit the issue:

1. Wireless connection drops the current connection (my
home wireless router connection )when it detects other
signals from my neighbors.

2. I am broadcasting my SSID and changed the channel but
disconnect continues.

3. I have only listed my connection to the preferred
network section.

4. The box for automatic connection to any available
connection is UNCHECKED.

Please help!! This is very annoying since I'm getting
dropped constantly.

Thank you very much!

Have you looked at EVENT VIEWER for possible fault reports Click Start/
Programmes/ Administrative tools/ Event viewer////// Make a short
cut to your desktop
Maybye you have to designate one of the computers on your network as the
master browser
My linksys wireless network (3 computers) had this problem until i did this
, The 2 xp computers fought over domination of the network .
One (the wifes) would declare itself a winner and lock the other off.the
Internett.
Event Viewer recorded the whole sordid story , jonny

did you also change the SSID name to insure it is not one of the
defaults that others may be using?

Oh, I have had this exact problem. However, we had several more computers on the network. As you probably know by know, it is extremely annoying! There are several things that can continually keep kicking you off
1. Make sure you don't have any 2.4 Ghz Wireless Phones near your base station. This shouldn't kick you off, but it does decrease the speed significantly. Also, make sure your base station is off of the same channels as your wireless phones
2. Ensure that IEEE 802.1x Authentication is DISABLED. With my Centrino Laptop, when this is disabled, I could only stay on one network up to three minutes. Then, it kicked you off
3. Under the Wireless Networks tab in your wireless network card adapter, ensure that you have the networks you want to connect to in the correct order in the preferred networks section. If any networks are present in the preffered network selection that you wish not to connect to, remove them. You will want your network on the top. More specifically, open the properties for this network and ensure that IEEE 802.1x Authentication is DISABLED
I hope this works. I have found that this usually solved my network problems as they eventually reappear. (usually during a really inconvenient time such as a study group) I hope this helps.

This may be caused by a commercial firewall - try
turning off the firewall and see if the problem continues.
