My laptop (HP) when I move large files over my network,
It disconnects then reconnects. This goes on and on,
sometimes it just loses the connection completely. Any
suggestions would be appriceated. I'm using XP Home with
linksys WAP11.

Hi,

You may be suffering from some interference from other 2.4GHz devices such
as cordless phones, microwaves and wireless video receiver/transceivers.
You may want to try changing the wireless channel on your WAP11 and see if
this brings more desirable results.

I also found that turning off the Wireless Zero Config service helped to stabilise a wireless connection

May be worth a try ?

Can you tell me how to turn this off?

Thanks,

Steven

Control Panel, Services Scroll down to Wireless Zero Config, double click
and disable it.
If you try other channels go to extremes I'd suggest 1 or 11 as most
wireless users and ISP's use the default.

Thanks!

This worked perfectly - thanks.

I find that I have to have the service On to establish the link and then Off to maintain the link.

Thanks again,

Steven
