I have the same problem - I have a wireless connection in the connections window, but when I open up the View Available Wireless Networks window, everything is grayed out except for the Close button, and in the adaptor properties, the Wireless Connections tab is missing; all I have are the General and Advanced tabs. I've tried three different wireless adaptors and all of them have the same problem. The adaptors work on -other- computers, so I know it's Windows and not the drivers

Any ideas, anyone?

I found it

Here's what you do. Go into Control Panel, and open up the Administrative Tools. Double-click on the Services icon. Find the Wireless Zero Configuration service. Double-click on it. The Startup Type pull-down menu will likely display Disabled. Change it to Automatic. Start the service. Voila, things should be working perfectly now.

DLink pointed me to the Wireless Zero Configuration thingy -- one problem, it doesn't appear in my Administrative Tools menu. They suggested I update XP. I ran all the critical updates and security patches again to make sure I'm updated, and I still do not have the Wireless Zero Configuration tool in my Adminstrative Tools menu.

Any ideas?
