Laptop running XP sp1. Using Linksys WPC54G card. When the
laptop turns on and successfully loads the OS and I
successfully log into the laptop; it tries to aquire
network. After successfully connecting at 54 MB, the
card's throughput slowly diminishes and ends at 1 MB.
While this is happening, it can not reach the dhcp server
to get its IP.

I have tried the card in my laptop and it works fine.
Linksys is saying since it works in another laptop this is
a XP problem. I am stumped.

TIA!

I have the same exact problem. Search the knowledge base by selecting
Windows XP as the product and "wireless network" as the keyword. Some of
these articles say hotfixes are available, but you have to request them from
microsoft, you can't just download them. Look through these articles, find
the description that best matches your problem, and contact microsoft and
try out the hot fix. Unless you can find a solution of your own, you're
going to have to wait until the next Service Pack is released and hope the
problem is fixed then.
