Wireless Cable "unplugged" weirdness

J

Jim

*installed an automatic update for IE6
*Rebooted
*No WiFi connectivity. Was perfect for weeks
*Cisco Card is flawless and associated
*Network runs smoothly in Safe Mode!
*In normal mode Windows says Network Connection 8: cable
unplugged
*Device manager says device is working
*Uninstalled update, reinstalled card, etc.
*No Change

Anyone know a way to "hard start" an adapter without
uninstalling and reinstalling. (Which hasn't worked?)

Thanks,

Jim

LOL
What is MS thinking? That they are selling fast food? LOL again....
I have installed windows update today...again...stupid me, I should have
known better. It screwed up my PC for a good three times before and it
almost crippled it today. Mine too was working fine for weeks.
You know what? When people can get away with the moral responsibility to
work carefully...they will.
And what can you do other than cry to the wind? As soon as you open that
software package or say "yes" (should be "yes I do") to that software
agreement, you are screwed well and thigh to it.
Enjoy.
LOL again.

If it works in Safe mode w/networking then there is some service or
application starting on a normal boot that is causing the problem. The IE
Update likely did not cause the problem, but an newly installed app or
service (or update to one) followed by the reboot from the IE update.
