I am trying to create a wireless ad hoc network between my Windows Vista
tower that has internet and my windows xp laptop that does not have internet.
I want to create a nework without using a router so i can get on the
internet with my laptop a and ust the tower as the host computer for internet
and printer sharing

i have tried the wizards on both computers but they do not like to talk to
each other. I need a guide or step by step instructions on how to do this.
thank you

to connect you laptop with your tower in a wireless network you need first
some wireless device in both computers. I mean a wireless adapter.
when each computer got this device, they detct automatically each other but
they can't communicate until you make some setting before.
Do you have some wireless device in each computer?
some wireless adapter I mean

the problem with ad hoc is when one computer only uses WEP and you
expose yourself to being hacked in a manner of minutes. I've written
about this a little at http://msmvps.com/blogs/wifizone/

You really want the protection of a router. You can find routers at
firesale $20-30 prices at CompUSA and the other big retail stores if
you look.

It's your decision, but I recommend being safe and secure.
