Wired / Wireless Network

Hi,

Hopefully someone can help me.

I have two computers on my home network. One Laptop (wireless) and a Desktop
(wired). I am using a D-Link DI-524 Router and have a cable modem installed.

My problem is that my laptop cannot see my desktop in network places. Also
my Desktop can see my Laptop, but it cannot access any shared files.

I think this is a basic problem, but I am new to networking. Any help would
be greatly appreciated.

Thank You.

Aaron,

One of the most common causes of this problem would be a misconfigured or
overlooked personal firewall, or other security component. There are several
other possibilities too, and any might be the cause of your problem. Read this
article with an open mind.

You might look at "browstat status", "ipconfig /all", "net config server", and
"net config workstation", from each computer, and diagnose the problem. Read
this article, and linked articles, and follow instructions precisely (download
browstat!):
