WinXP won't boot without USB drive

J

JeffB

Imaged system from USB drive, loaded patches, etc. When I remove the USB
drive, the system stops booting at the point where it 'blanks out' before the
intial login prompt.

If I power off and connect USB drive, then boot, everything works fine.

Any ideas?

It sounds like it's using the USB drive during the boot sequence. Did you
restore the image then disconnect the USB drive and boot without doing
anything else. Did this give the same problem. Will it boot in safemode
without the USB drive. Are there any error messages or does it just hang.
