winxp sp1 - system pid 4 50 percent cpu usage all thge time

No matter how I boot the system .... in safe mode or normal.... I have 50
percent cpu usage under the local system pid...... I have ran spyware...
found nothing... This is a Gateway e-6000 2.8 ghz

This windows has no irregular software loaded...

What could it be?

try the fixes described in the svchost 100% thread. does that help?
