I want WinXP search to be able to find text within the older Word2.0
files. Per a suggestion from this group, I implemented the indexing
service.
To test the performance of WinXP search, I have two files. File Test02
has an unusual word within it and has been saved as a Word2.0 file.
File Test97 has the same unusual word within it and has been saved as a
Word97 file.
Often the first time I do a search, WinXP search will find both files.
If I then close out that search and try again, it will only find the
Word97 file. I've not yet been able to figure out what conditions are
necessary for it to find the Word2.0 file. No matter how I change the
search and indexing service parameters, it never seems to again find the
Word2.0 file.
If I use the Indexing Service Query form to do the search, it typically
will find the Word2.0 file and not the Word97 file. However, this may be
a result of the index being updated after the Word2.0 file was created
but before the Word97 file was created.
Any suggestions?
