WinXP -recycled folder files invisible

I backed up an image using Norton Ghost 2002 and accidentally put it in the
RECYCLED folder on my 2nd hard drive. Win XP folder properties says there
are 9 files (which is correct since I used file spanning) and 13 GB of space
is used but the files are not there. I've unhidden system folders and see
the recycled folder but no files are visible.

I just want to free up the 13 GB space but can't seem to empty the recycle
folder. Any ideas?
