WinXP Pro Missing Installation Problems

I'm trying to do a fresh install of WinXP Pro from CD. I've reformatted and
partitioned my HD and am booting from the install CD but in the middle of the
install I'm getting dialog boxes asking for missing files it's not finding on
the CD. I tried to copy the missing files from my other computer onto a
floppy disk and then redirect the install to drive A: but it's taking forever
now because their appear to be dozens of files and some of them are too large
to fit ona floppy disk.

What cdrom is being used? A retail version? Or an OEM
version that is specific for the particular computer
or what? Or is it a non-branded but MS OEM Windows XP
Pro cdrom for computers without an operating system?

This problem is usually caused by one (or a combination) of the
following:

1. The cd is too scratched up. Try with an identical cd.
2. The cd drive is dirty; however if the drive worked well for other
cd's then this is probably not the cause.
3. The RAM is bad. Test with Memtest from www.memtest.org.
4. The hard drive is bad. Test with a diagnostic utility from the drive
mftr.
