My Windows XP Professional PC (desktop) will not go into standby mode after
the specified idle time that is set in the Power Management applet of
Windows. I have installed the Windows XP SP2 and all the latest updates, but
this has not corrected the problem, despite Microsoft's claims that SP2 would
fix it. I am not using any screen saver. I can get the computer to go into
standby only when I press the "sleep" button on my keyboard. The monitor
will, however, go into standby after the specified idle time, but not the
computer. Does anyone have any ideas how to fix this problem or is this
still a "bug" that Microsoft has been unable to squash?
