winxp only allows 4gb backups - i need more

i'm trying to do a backup before i remove some viruses.
the backup utility only allows ~4.3gb max. i need 7gb. is
there a workaround so i can backup my ENTIRE hardrive
onto itself? (ie all of "c:\" and "system state").

the box tells me the .bkf is too large for this disk, and
if the disk is formatted with fat32, the maximum possible
size for backup is 4gb.

You could always locate a couple of large directories that
are user data and exempt them from the first backup of the
system drive and system state, and then do them as a
separate second backup file.

If your destination is formatted FAT32, then maximum file size is 4GB (not a
limitation of the backup software). You can either make multiple backups or
convert the destination file system to NTFS.
