I recently had WinXP(Home) installed on my computer in place of WinMe.The
file system is now NTFS replacing the original FAT32.I now find that I can
neither format floppy discs nor open them. My floppy drive is,in
fact, useless.Does anyone know of a remedy?

Perhaps your floppy drive has been disabled in the BIOS.
Check the BIOS settings.
Regards Mike.

Make sure that the bios setting for the floppy detection is for 1.44 meg
"only".

Please help us to help you. Exactly what does " can neither format floppy
discs nor open them" mean? What happens when you try? If you get an error
message, please quote it verbatim.

Exactly. It helps tremendously to say what it DOES rather than what it
doesn't do.
