Hello,

Does anyone have any experience with regards to net between Win XP and 98?

Scenario:
1. WinXP-A box can browse and exchange data within the network (WinXP
and 98).
2. I tried to change the network address on all the machines from
192.168.0.A to 192.168.0.B
3. Upon changing the NET add all other PC's (WinXP/98) are communicating
well and can see and exchange data as well as with WinXP-A.
4. But, WinXP-A hangs and freezes when tries to connect to other PC's
(Win98 Only) via win explorer.
5. When being patient, WinXP-A can get thru other PC's (Win98) but it
takes ages. Mapping the shared doc does not even help but makes things
worst.
6. Pinging, Net View, Net View \\Win98Machine goes perfectly OK.

Any idea why does WinXP-A acts this strangely?

On XP, you need to create the same user name that the Windows 98 are using.
This is for the XP user access.

Also, the IP addresses must be unique:
1- 192.168.0.1
2- 192.168.0.2 etc.
