WINXP Login error

hello... I am experiencing an error when attempting to login to my Win XP
home edition computer.... When i click my user name I see the loading
settings screen then it changes to logging off then im back to login screen
again... I never get to my desktop... I have tried Safe mode, safe mode with
networking, and the adminstator account and the same error occurs... any
suggestions would be greatly appriciated
