winxp home reinstall

Installed full retail xp. Months later microproc smoked.
Removed 80gb seagate no partitions to new computer, which
would not recognize the drive. Booted from xp disk which
recognized the drive and tried to reinstall xp, following
the prompts to set 1st partition to 60gb,format partition,
install xp. It partitions, formats the partition, but will
not install xp? Where am I going wrong???? .......

What errors is it giving you? Or what does it do exactly after formatting
the partitions?
