I cannot seem to activate the 'internet connection
firewall' option through my network connections, on my
laptop.
I keep getting the following error...
"An error occurred while Internet Connection Sharing was
being enabled. The dependency service or group failed to
start."
It used to be fine...any ideas?

Thank you in advance for any assistance!!

Thank you!
Unfortunately it did not prove to be successful. All of
the items indicated in the MS error note were already
selected in the configuration.

This FIREWALL used to work fine...don't know what it
could be?!

TS,

Use the Services.msc applet instead of MSCONFIG. Make sure all the services described in MS-KB 827328 are enabled. Visit www.blackviper.com and download the default services configuration REG file and apply it.

If this does not help, inspect the event log for any errors.

Thank you, Ramesh.
I have tried the services.msc and found that two items
were not 'started'. When attempting to activate these, I
received the following errors...

Remote Access Connection Manager:
"Services: Could not start the Remote Access Connection
Manager service on Local Computer.
Error 5: Access is denied"

Remote Access Auto Connection Manager:
"Services: Could not start the Remote Access Connection
Manager service on Local Computer.
Error 1068: The dependency service or group failed to
start."

Any ideas on how to get around these?

As for the black viper website...many apologies for my
lack of savvy... :< But I could not decipher what it was
that I had to do...

Thanks again!

Thank you, Ramesh!
I have now installed SP1 and the firwalls are activated!
Great!

Unfortunately, now it appears that my USB's are not
picking up. Prior to the SP1 upgrade, I was able to plug
my mouse and/or floppy drive into an USB port and XP
would automatically pick them up. Now neither device is
picked up by XP. I've tried leaving them plugged in and
restarting as well, but with no success.

Any ideas?

THanks again!

I made the problem go away by reinstalling the USB
drivers. Thanks again for all your help, Ramesh!
