According to me, its happen when "Themes" service get turned off. Try this:

1. Click Start - Run - type SERVICES.MSC
2. In the right side pane, double-click on Themes service.
3. From the "Startup Type" choose "Automatic". Click Apply Button and then
click Start button to immediately start the service.
4. Check if it automatically set the Blue color. Otherwise, goto Display
Properties and change the Theme to Windows XP again.

Hope this help, let us know!

I occasionally have the opposite problem. I have my XP Media Center set
for "classic everything." I use 2000 at work, but have always preferred
the classic look. Once or twice a month, XP starts up in "XP" mode not
classic. When this happens, I simply do a restart and when it starts up
the second time, it's back to classic. I have no idea why it gets lost
occasionally, but assume it mis-reads a line of code in the Registry.

I don't consider it a problem in any way, shape, or form, meaning, if I
had to use the computer "right now!", I'd simply use it in native XP
mode until I had time to restart.

In other words, no need to get a knot in my knickers over it... :>))
