WinXP Chkdsk Fails

Hi, I'm running winXP home and can no longer use chkdsk. Message says
'Cannnot Open Volume..." The MS database article 823439, last reviewed
8/14/03 simply states MS has confirmed the problem-I have sectors that need
repair, and would appreciate any alternative solutions to this problem.

I will try, I am assuming that you are able to get into
windows. if so right click my computer left click manage,
left click device manager, double left click disk drives,
now right click your HD, then left click properties, left
click volumes, left click populate. Click OK and close
computer managment. click on start/run and type in
chkdsk c:\ /f /r
If this does not work, try starting in save mode, then DOS
mode.
Hope this helps

If you have Zone Alarm V 5 installed uninstall it and revert to Version 4.5
Chkdsk will run when you next try it.
