WinXP Backup Utiltiy Qestion

A

Andrew Parkhouse

Hi,

I have just installed a Maxtor One Touch External Hard Disk and I am not
very impressed with the supplied backup software called 'Retrospect Express'

To that end I have been using the 'Backup Utility' provided in Win XP Pro,
and this appears to work as I want it to, but I have a question regarding an
Icon / symbol displayed in the tree structure in the Restore and Manage
Media view.

On a couple of the folders their is a red exclamation mark or icon, and I
cannot find out what that means.

Can anyone here advise me what it means and do I need to worry about it?

Thanks

Andrew

An external hard drive is either attached, or it's not. This condition is
indicated by its presence in the device list in (start/run, type:)
Devmgmt.msc.

Any device that has a 'conflict', (usually meaning its driver needs
replacement) shows a red icon with an exclamation point. Backup is probably
using this to show a problem on that drive (not attached?, driver problem?)
