winxp and folder view choices

[Hah.... as if if gonna put my real name here]

i run winxp professional

every so often, all my folder view options reset themselves to default.
This is REALLY annoying, as i must manually re-set my work photos folder to
thumbnails, and my other folder to tiles, as desired, etc, etc

is this a common problem with xp, and can anyone help me solve it?
or do i have to put up with it???

oh, possibly in the same category.... my status bar switches itself off for
no reason, within certain folders. I ALWAYS have the status bar set to
show, and yet, for sure, the next time i open a folder, the damned status
bar is turned off. I DO have the "remember last folder view" (or whatever
it is!) option checked

Hi,

WindowsXP will remember the settings of up to 400 folders, after that it
starts forgetting some. See this from MVP Kelly for a way to increase this
number:

Line 2, increase the folder view size limit to 8000

You can also resolve this with the newest version of TweakUI. Get it here:

http://www.microsoft.com/windowsxp/pro/downloads/powertoys.asp

After installing, look under explorer/customization, increase the "folders
to remember".

WinXP has a (low) limit on the number of customised folders it can
remember. Go to:

the second line, left column to increase the possible stored Views to
8000
