WinXP Activation Code.

I just recently, re-installed windows xp home for my parents on their
computer, due to a virus being on it. I reformatted the hard drive, and used
the cd that orginally came with the computer. Set-up process went fine, but
now when trying to activate this copy of win xp, it tells me that the
Authenticity code is invalid. What could be wrong? I only had the one code
to work with that was attached to the side of the computer, and I even used
this code when it asked for it during the set-up process.

Have you mistakenly typed os instead of 0s or vice versa?

Nope, I've tried each version of everything, even gone through the telephone
verification system, but after waiting 30min for a some help, after the
computer couldn't i was fed up and hung up.

If he'd typed O's the code wouldn't have been accepted by Setup anyway.

This problem is becoming increasingly common, even with brand-new OEM
computers. You need to call the activation hotline, enter a garbage
activation-code, and then ask to speak to a rep when this is rejected. They
should be able to give you a new key.
