Winsock2 error

Senerio: this weekend I ran Adaware, Skybot, then did a
diskclean, and defrag. Now when I start my computer I get
a missing winsock2 error window and my Mccaffee will not
start and I can not connect to my comcast modem or get
online. I called comcast and they said it was a problem
with windows. I reloaded my windowsxp that came with my
dell but it did not help still get the same message.
I am at a loss at what to do next.
Any suggestion would be appreciated
