Just a quick question - Can winpop be used with XP pro? If
not is there something similar as I just need a simple
popup notification tool.

Greetings David,

Actually "WinPopUp" is built into the operating system as the "Messenger Service" and is on
by default.

To send a message, use the "net send" command. To do so, click the Start button, then click
Run, and enter:
net send computername themessage

Where the computername is the computer name of the person you're sending to, and themessage
is the message you want to send.

If you want an interface to do all this, check out Lantalk XP:

I am using 'Winpopup LAN Messenger'
(http://www.winpopup-lan-messenger.com). It is tcp/ip lan messenger, so
you can forbid netbios and permit the winpopup in your personal
firewalls - more right imho.

Sir, I request you to try Outlook Messenger for Lan Chat. The best Lan
Messenger software having many features Lan Chat, Group Chat, Desktop
Sharing, Voice Chat, Reminder and Popup Notes. Download 20 days fully
functional trail version. visit http://www.outlookmessenger.com
